In reply to your letter of 11th December last, I am commanded by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury to acquaint you, for the information of the Duke of Newcastle, that they see no objection to the appointment of Mr. Aplis to be Packet Agent at Shanghai, with a Salary of £250 per annum, to be paid from the Colonial Revenue of Hong Kong.
